• Question: Which way of fueling cars is the cleanest: using electricity, burning water, or using petrol?

      This all depends on where the electricity comes from… if it is generated using fossil fuels this can be just as bad (or worse) for the environment as using normal petrol or diesel cars. Electric cars can be seen as better for the environment in general as there is no direct air pollution from the exhaust of cars (this is a huge problem at the moment)!!

      However, the microorganisms I use have a trick up their sleeve… you can actually use the methane they produce whilst eating grass as a transport fuel! The gas produce has to be cleaned up to produce biomethane, but after this it can power a vehicle using a special engine. These already exist, for example if you know the supermarket ‘Waitrose’ their lorries already run on biomethane. As biomethane is a renewable form of energy I would argue this is the type of transport fuel is one of the best for the environment.
