I thought during college that I wanted to be a biology teacher (mostly A-levels) but then when I started university, I realised how much I did love microbiology and that’s all I wanted to learn, research and teach 🙂
I knew when I did my GCSEs that I wanted to do something in science. But I didn’t know quite what. I thought about medicine, being a vet or a researcher. In the end my grades at a-level ultimately determined what I could do. But it all worked out for the best in the end!
I always wanted to keep learning. Since I am really young. I did not think I could do anything. It is quite naturally (and a little bit by default) that I did a master degree in research (it is how it is called in France). However, I realised that I really wanted to do my life career in research the first time I did an internship in a lab (during my 1st year of master). I had to carry my own project from the beginning to the end and I found it rewarding, I just could not quit anymore.
I loved Biology from GCSE times, and I always thought about doing medicine….however I watched a bit too much TV during my GCSE/A Level times instead of revising and didn’t get the high grades needed so ended up doing Biological Sciences at uni instead with the idea of going into medicine after uni….BUT I changed my mind when I found microbiology and decided to go for that instead and I haven’t looked back since!
Science was always my favourite subject at school and I never really knew you could be a scientist until I went to University. That was great news as it meant I could start a job/career based around my favourite school subject 🙂
Halfway through university when I knew that I enjoyed doing my own experiments and going away to look things up and finding out stuff that you would never have been taught by a teacher!
