I absolutely loved science at GCSEs and during my A-levels, particularly biology. I was fascinated with how our cells work and how things can make us sick. Just before I applied for my undergraduate degree, I found pathogenic microbes really really interesting, particularly bacteria that cause some really nasty diseases like the plague, anthrax, TB and melioidosis. So at university, I realised there’s so much research going on and I wanted to be part of it 🙂
