I’m currently in the process of writing up my research from my undergraduate, which was a great success, I isolated 12 bacteriophages (viruses that infect bacteria) that infect anthrax from lots of different soil samples taken from all over Wales. When we sequenced some of these phages, we found that 2 of them are over 99% identical to a phage isolated in the USA, so that was quite cool. Now in my PhD, we’ve confirmed that a gene missing all bovine TB strains does something strange, but we need to do more research!
