The most exciting thing is discovering things that not many people know about and then using that knowledge to help mankind solve problems.
With my work, what I like best is that we can use bacteria and other microorganisms to help prevent climate change … something you would never expect them to do!
Hello! I love helping people in absolutely every way possible. My project right now is studying a horrible bacteria called C. difficile which makes you very ill in the stomach and cause very bad diarrhoea. Current medicines/antibiotics aren’t working too well against it any more because the bacteria is getting stronger and stronger so I am looking at an alternative treatment in this case bacteriophages (viruses that can attack and kill the bacteria). I love that this is very current research that is a real problem nowadays. The great thing about science is it’s always moving forward. We are always looking at what to do next and how we can make improvements in everything from medicines to technology and everything in between 🙂
Great question, I particularly love the area of tuberculosis research atm (the bacterium I’m working on) as more and more people are dying because of the disease worldwide every year. So if we can find even more discoveries to prevent this nasty disease killing anymore people then that would be great!
Hi, with my line of work the thing I like most is that every single day is different! I’m always finding out something new or trying a new thing to see if it works! Its never boring believe me! Then the other thing that excites me most is meeting other scientists from around the world and talking about what they have done or discovered and finding out that you might be able to help and before you know it your spending a week in another country learning things you never thought you would!
My research particularly excites me because of the problems the world faces very very soon and I feel that my research could solve that problem!
