At the moment I am on maternity leave as my son is only 7 weeks old, so I have not had to juggle my career and children quite yet. But.. I work with a lot of women who have very successful scientific careers and are also mums. Its a delicate balancing act, but it can be done! Luckily research work can be quite flexible to accommodate working parents, so you really can achieve what you want to!
When he gets older, will it be harder, for example when you’re at that period of time where it’s hard for a child to leave it’s mother, will things get harder for you or will you find a way to continue your successful career so far?
I will try and find a way to continue my career. It’s important to me as I have worked hard to get where i am. There are loads of ways I can be a good mum and be successful. I want to be an inspiration to my son so if I can find away to balance work and be there for him then i hope i will. I don’t think it will be easy but it will be worth it in the long run.
