So there is lots of awards – sometimes when you present at conferences (where there are lots of scientists) you can win poster or talk prizes. But most ‘competitions’ in science are for funding, this is where you submit your research idea to a particular government department or charity, they assess your idea and decide whether to give you money to research your idea. There’s not really a best, but there are quite prestigious funding like from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, the Wellcome trust (that funds I’m a scientist!) and BBSRC

So Ash has mentioned some of the prizes that are more accessible to us as scientists i.e those at conferences for presentations and posters (where you have to summarise your work in poster form) but there are HUGE prizes which only the exceptional win, and I’m sure you’ve heard of it. The Nobel Prize, they have them for different categories including Physics, Chemistry and I think there’s a medicine one rather than Biology. Famous winners of this include Albert Einstein and Marie Curie.

I don’t think I’d ever win a Nobel Prize but I will happily settle for winning I’m a Scientist 😉

The other scientists have explained this brilliantly, I believe the Nobel Prize is one of the best prizes you can win. Though nothing comes close to how good ‘I’m A Scientist’ would be to win 😀
