It always has been my mother. She is no scientist at all (she is a painter), but she is always gave me the image of a strong and independent woman. In her way she raised me to be curious and pay attention to the world around. I believe it helped raising my interest about science.

My family, especially my mum, mum always encouraged me to do my very best and I have a few uncles and aunties who always send me inspirational messages too.

Growing up for me it was always my teachers! When I think back to how much I messed around in school and didn’t listen but they always kept helping me and pushing me to do well! Obviously now I’ve finished school I don’t think I have a role model specifically but I do know what I want to be and how to get there.

My role model was my granddad as he was a chemist. Today I look up to many people both in my place of work and my social life. I had a really brilliant work colleague at my job at the University of nottingham. She had a great work/life balance and was really progressing in her career, she was definitely an inspiring person.

I think teachers have always been big role models for me… more of me wondering ‘how do they know all that information and how can I get to that level’
