• Question: can you move the nucleus of one cell into another cell, so in theory you can you take a flaggelocyte and add a genome from a phagocyte so that the flaggelocyte can eat smaller cells?

Wow! This is a very good question. At the moment I don’t think it’s possible. Scientists have engineered DNA and transferred it into an empty cell, but I believe it was the cells original DNA that was engineered (it was a Nature paper not that long ago). Also, the cell would that the nucleus was going in to would still need to have all the other correct components for the DNA to be ‘read’ correctly. These components can vary greatly from cell to cell, so the process would be extremely difficult!

Osmium456 you ask some fantastic questions! I don’t know much about this I’m afraid but you have inspired me to look this up so I will have a read up over this soon! Thanks!

I’m afraid I don’t know too much about this topic (it sounds like you know much more than me already haha) make sure you put your amazing scientific knowledge to good use if this is something you are really interested in 🙂
